Registration: How It Works
Register from anywhere with a computer using our online option. Click the >>REGISTER button following each class offering and follow the prompts. A PayPal account is NOT required.

You may register in our office, Monday through Friday, from 10 am - 4 pm, using a check, cash, or MC/Visa or AMEX.

Phone registration is available using MC/Visa or AMEX.

All class fees must be paid at the time of registration; class space cannot be held until full payment is received. Except for a $25 application fee, class fees are refundable if our Education Director is notified of cancellation a minimum of three weeks prior to the scheduled start of the class. No refunds will be made after that date because of contractual obligations and the cost of purchasing supplies. No refunds will be given if a student withdraws after a class begins. Class fees are non-transferable

 

 


MIXED MEDIA
Personalized Books: By and About You!
Make a book all about YOU!  Each student will create a clothbound, hardback artist book about themselves and their family.  Bring an expendable article of your clothing to the first class to be used for your cover.  The fabric should provide a 12" x 16" rectangle.  Also bring any photos or other flat objects you want included in your book.  What a unique and special way to preserve treasured memories ... and a great holiday gift!

PAINTING AND SCULPTURE
This is a mixed media class that will explore the use of color and narrative in painting and sculpture. Students will develop an artist notebook of ideas, stories, and sketches that will lead up to an individual sculpture project. Through this process, each student will have a unique story that will unfold. All materials included.

CREATIVE DRAWING
Students will creatively express themselves with a variety of drawing materials including pencil, charcoal, oil pastel, and watercolor. They will learn fundamental drawing principles and experiment with drawing materials on a variety of textured and colored papers. All materials included.

2-Day MINI CAMP

Meet the masters*
This very special 2-day program that will introduce children to the exciting world of art. Instructors at the Arts Council of Princeton (ACP) will treat campers to an age-appropriate review of art history, art movements, famous artists, techniques, and materials. Participants will then put this knowledge to use in creating their own studio artwork. They will be further inspired by ACP-led tours of the Princeton University Art Museum’s outstanding collections where they will “Meet the Masters” – experiencing, first-hand, treasures created by the likes of Monet, Cezanne, Manet, Degas, Van Gogh, Gauguin … and so many others! DRAMA

MAMA & me: Fun with Folktales*
This class is for parent or caregiver and a child 3-4 years of age. Adult and child will explore the world of folktales, where wise animals talk, peasants feast, and goodness is always rewarded. Through dramatic play (become one of the characters!), music, movement, and visual art, this class will use popular stories and songs from around the world as springboards for imaginative creativity. Each week will introduce a story or song with new themes to inspire participants (Anansi, Stone Soup, and so many others).

Adventures Undercover*
Mysteries and magic await these participants! In this creative role-playing class, students will be empowered to explore their own imaginary world and characters. As pirates or princesses, detectives or villains - while solving mysteries or uncovering treasures - students will come together as an inventive theatre ensemble to create their own stories. Basic acting and ensemble skills will be taught each session, with an emphasis on self-expression, team work, and active listening. These tools will be used to guide students through their imaginative world. Along the journey, they will be encouraged to think on their feet, react, adapt, and have a blast!

The Puppet Junket*
Designers and dreamers welcome! This class will integrate the visual and performing arts through hands-on work and creative self-expression. Students will learn the techniques of building a puppet from scratch (pop-up puppets, hand puppets, marionettes) and will bring them to life through music, movement, improvisation, or sometimes just a simple breath. Students will have a chance to share their new found craft and animation skills with families at the final class.

SPANISH DANCE

Want to kick up your heels a bit? This is the class for you! Flamenco, Folk, and Classical Spanish dance will be taught. Shoes with a heel are required, and girls should wear a full skirt. Enrollment in the 11:45 Beginner class is open to all; Intermediate and Advanced Beginner requires permission of the instructor. Pre-registration is required.

These classes will lead students through the basic techniques of three-dimensional art. Students will be introduced to the sculptural aspects of self-hardening clay, while also experimenting with plaster and papier¬mâché. All materials included.

SCULPTURE*
In this course students will become familiar with Pop artists of the Mid 20th Century. After studying the work of various artists including Claes Oldenburg and Andy Warhol, students will construct an armature leading to a 1960s decade inspired sculptural masterpiece. This class includes drawing, painting and sculpture. All materials included.

Parking Problems?

PARKING IS NOW SO EASY!

Students currently enrolled in any Arts Council class can receive substantially discounted parking rates at the Palmer Square Garage on Hulfish Street. All you have to do is purchase your pass at the Arts Council in advance for each semester your class is in session. For a flat fee of $20, your pass will allow you to park for up to 10 sessions during the semester.
