TASHA O'NEILL
Tasha O’Neill, born and raised in Germany, came to Princeton in 1973. She had tried her hand at many things: foreign languages, catering, being a licensed private pilot, running a small restaurant, being a wife and mother - but nothing has held her attention more than being a photographer. Following her early widowhood, Tasha experienced a photographic epiphany among frost flowers on the D&R Canal. This prompted her to study at the NY Institute of Photography. Suffused with nature in her native Germany and taught by her mother to be both thorough and inquisitive, she examines subjects in her immediate surroundings --whether landscapes, blooms, cobwebs, insects, reflections or shadows--, from all angles and distances, until she has exhausted that subject. Her involvement in the community has broadened her repertoire further by documenting "Princeton Writers Block", "Healing through Creativity" and other nature, arts, and preservation efforts. At Gallery 14 in Hopewell, NJ, a co-op for fine art photographers, where she served last as vice-president, she became known for her intimate flower portraits, reflections in water and portraits of Frank Gehry buildings. Since the fall of 2010, Tasha became co-founder and director of the Verde Art Galleries in Kingston, NJ. Her work can be seen year-round at “Another Angle” on Nassau St, and at the dental offices of Dr. Lekha Tull on N Harrison St. Tasha captures local artists’ work for portfolios and Web sites.
