Artist:
Nancy Shill On
display at Morris Maple Biography: Nancy
Shill discovers uniqueness in cast-off paper and other articles. She
builds with paper as a painter would with paint. "I search for
old paper, cloth, wood, plastic, strings, paint chips, and painted papers,
and I resurrect them. There is a constant supply of art materials wherever
I look. I'm enchanted with color, texture, form and motion because they
reveal basic truths which apply to every form of art." Nancy studied
with Roy Lichtenstein at Douglass College from 1961 to 1962. She admires
and has been inspired by Kurt Schwitters and Henri Matisse. She has
also studied at the Newark School of Fine Industrial Arts and at Montclair
University with Rex Goreleigh in 1978. Nancy's most recent gallery exhibits
include the Artists' Gallery, Lambertville, NJ and the Carol Schwartz
Gallery in Philadelphia, PA. In 2008, she participated in juried shows
at Phillips Mill, Ellarslie Museum, and Artsbridge. Contact:
