Submission Guidelines
Please read these guidelines carefully

• Students in grades K through 12 may submit original poetry,short prose (700 word maximum) or artwork

• Each student may submit a total of 3 pieces, whether written or visual

• Written work in both English and Spanish may be submitted

• All written entries must be typed (double spaced, 11 point minimum)

• All art must be in black and white and no larger than 8.5” x 11”. If not
submitting original artwork, the quality of the reproduction must be suitable for print.

Each submission must include:

• Student’s name and age
• Home address and telephone number
• School, grade, and name of English or
Art teacher

Please make sure all information is legible.

The following will not be accepted:

• Pictures of licensed characters

• Illustrated poems

• Images larger that 8.5” x 11”

• Color images

• Poems and artwork missing
information such as: a full name,
age, teacher, etc.(see above)

Each student should keep a copy of his or her submissions. No work will be returned. Only students whose work has been chosen for publication will be notified.

Work may be submitted individually or by class. No faxes accepted.

Submissions must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2008.
